I’m in the midst of working on a book that I’ve mentioned a few times. It’s a work of fiction, and my first ever longer work of fiction.
Some of the book is going to touch upon some really cool Irish folklore, how the Irish work with grief and a lot around the banshee.
The Irish are famous for storytelling, and for how they deal with death, for that matter. In fact, its hard to come across actual documentation of a lot of these stories since they’ve practiced an oral tradition for centuries.
So I met with Dr. Patricia Lysaght, THE banshee expert in Dublin.
What I mean by “expert” is she wrote the one collective academic book on the banshee, tracking its origins and collective threads by region throughout the entire country of Ireland.
I, of course, devoured it and used it for research for my book, and I went to meet with her in Dublin over coffee to ask her a few questions.
I entered with a plan and a strategy. I wanted to make sure I got the job done. How often am I in Ireland, anyway?
